The Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS) within the U.S. Department of Commerce has recently announced two significant new regulations: the first updates export controls on advanced computing semiconductors, while the second adds 14 Chinese and 2 Singaporean companies to the Entity List. These export controls specifically target advanced logic integrated circuits manufactured using processes of 16nm/14nm and below, or those featuring non-planar transistor architectures. Concurrently, the United States will intensify scrutiny on foundries to prevent the diversion of related products to China. These stringent measures are aimed at preserving U.S. national security and curtailing China's access to cutting-edge advanced computing semiconductors.
