A group of Brazilian hardware enthusiasts is gearing up to modify NVIDIA's GeForce RTX 5090, a graphics card from the RTX 50 series, with the audacious goal of boosting its memory speed from 28Gbps to 32Gbps, thereby achieving an unprecedented bandwidth of 2TB/s. The RTX 5090, which already sports a 512-bit GDDR7 memory interface offering over 1.7TB/s of bandwidth, stands to receive a significant performance upgrade through this modification. The plan further includes transplanting RTX 5080 memory modules into the RTX 5090, a move expected to dramatically enhance its capabilities. Should this ambitious project succeed, the memory frequency could leap from 14000MHz to as high as 17000MHz, potentially even surpassing this mark. However, this intricate and costly endeavor is not without its challenges, with the memory transplant alone estimated to set back the modders by approximately $4000.
