Indichip Semiconductors Ltd. is set to invest a whopping $1.6 billion in constructing a state-of-the-art silicon carbide (SiC) power chip wafer fabrication facility in the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. This ambitious project is bolstered by technological expertise from its joint venture partner, Yitoa Technology. The planned wafer fabrication plant anticipates an initial monthly production capacity of 10,000 wafers, with the ambition to scale up to 50,000 wafers per month over time. The Andhra Pradesh government has pledged its support by providing the necessary land and infrastructural facilities for this venture. This significant investment aligns seamlessly with India's 'Make in India' initiative, which aims to foster the growth and development of the domestic semiconductor industry.
