The USB Implementers Forum (USB-IF) has unveiled a streamlined labeling system designed to simplify the naming conventions and speed categories of USB devices. This new approach prominently displays device and cable speeds in Gbps, standardizes the depiction of charging power in watts (W), and eliminates cumbersome names like 'USB 3.2 Gen 2×2'. Furthermore, the incorporation of fresh logos will facilitate users in effortlessly distinguishing between various specifications. Moving forward, laptop manufacturers will adopt these new labels on their devices; for example, USB 3.2 Gen 2x2 devices will feature the 'USB 20Gbps' logo. This innovative step will markedly boost consumer convenience when selecting USB devices and accessories.
