Amidst the accelerated rollout of 5G networks, high-capacity venues like large stadiums and concert halls are encountering significant challenges with signal coverage and uplink/downlink capacity. Recently, Zhejiang Telecom and Huawei jointly achieved a remarkable milestone by successfully completing an innovative commercial test of FDD Massive MIMO technology in Ningbo. The test results revealed that, compared to conventional 4T4R technology, FDD Massive MIMO significantly enhanced coverage capacity by 8dB, boosted downlink capacity by 4.7 times, and increased uplink capacity by 4.3 times. This groundbreaking achievement promises to effectively address issues related to deep coverage in densely populated urban areas, ultra-long-range coverage over the sea, and signal congestion during major events.
