Prior to stepping into the colossal clean room at ASML Semiconductor Equipment Plant, situated in the southern Netherlands, the public relations officer cautioned the CommonWealth Magazine reporter of the stringent dress code. It necessitated donning a deep blue, full-body clean suit, complete with a hat and specialized shoes, leaving only the eyes visible. Additionally, all makeup and mascara had to be removed to preclude any cosmetic dust from contaminating the pristine environment.
