The year 2025 looms large in the advanced chip manufacturing landscape, as TSMC, Samsung, and Japan's Rapidus all gear up to commence trial production of 2-nanometer chips. The pioneer in this endeavor will undeniably secure a competitive edge for future market dominance. TSMC has already launched a 2nm trial production line at its Hsinchu Baoshan facility, with plans to gradually scale up production. Samsung's 2nm process is smoothly progressing through mass production testing, with trial production anticipated in the first half of the year. Meanwhile, Rapidus aims to commence trial production in April, targeting mass production by 2027.
