In morning trading on November 5, shares of Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix fell sharply at the same time. Analysts believe that concerns over tighter data center regulation following the U.S. midterm elections drove U.S. semiconductor stocks lower, which in turn dampened investment sentiment toward Korean semiconductor stocks. Other analysts, however, argue that the impact on data center investments already underway will be limited. A researcher at Kiwoom Securities noted that there will be no major disruptions to the progress of data center investments already in motion, and that the impact on existing supply contracts and downward revisions to earnings expectations for AI infrastructure stocks will both be limited.
