Shanghai Silicon Industry announced at its November 4 earnings briefing that its capacity construction target of 1.2 million 300mm silicon wafers per month is on track and will be achieved by the end of this year, with capacity to be gradually ramped up. Unlike 300mm large silicon wafers, the company's 300mm SOI business remains in the stages of customer qualification, capacity ramp-up, and gradual product volume growth. Currently, 300mm SOI products primarily target applications such as silicon photonics, RF, and high-voltage devices, with silicon photonics applications ramping up relatively quickly. Overall, SOI silicon wafers still account for a smaller share of the global silicon materials industry than conventional silicon wafers, but they remain indispensable in certain application fields.
