South Korean memory chip giant SK Hynix is planning to invest approximately $45 billion in New York State to build two NAND flash memory plants, but the project has run into fresh obstacles. Reuters reported on November 3, citing sources familiar with the matter, that the U.S. Department of Commerce has yet to approve the company's license to export additional U.S.-made semiconductor equipment to its plant in Dalian, China. SK Hynix had hoped to generate extra revenue by expanding production at its Chinese facility to help fund the construction of its new U.S. plant.
