On November 3, Korean media outlet The Elec reported that Samsung Electronics has notified its 8-inch wafer foundry customers of its plan to completely cease operations on the related production lines by the end of 2030. Previously, Samsung had only stated that it would "gradually reduce" operations; this marks the first time the company has clearly specified an exit timeline.
