On October 12, foreign media reported that Wall Street is set to officially enter the third-quarter earnings season this week, with major banks slated to start releasing their earnings reports starting tomorrow. While bank earnings reports will certainly draw some attention in the stock market, the ongoing artificial intelligence (AI) boom remains a major focal point for investors. Among the companies preparing to announce their earnings, Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) is garnering significant interest, with its earnings report scheduled for release on October 15 (Thursday). Analysts anticipate TSMC's earnings per share for its US-listed stock to reach approximately $4.42, with net profit projected to surge by around 65%, hitting NT$746.3 billion. The market will be keenly observing whether TSMC can maintain this growth trajectory through 2027. Perhaps even more attention will be directed towards TSMC's insights on the demand for AI chips and whether customers intend to ramp up their orders, rather than just the core financial metrics in the earnings report.
