Musk claimed that the Terafab manufacturing project he leads will have the capability to produce 1 terawatt of computing power, but semiconductor experts believe that achieving this goal is extremely difficult. Industry insiders point out that the entry barrier for chip manufacturing is exceptionally high, and it would take at least 30 years to achieve the yield levels required for large-scale production and maintain the optimal combination of process steps. Therefore, achieving stable yields for Terafab could be even more challenging than sending Starship to Mars.
