Synopsys, a leader in chip design software, announced that despite facing challenges from tightened U.S. export controls, the company still plans to collaborate with Chinese developers of large language models to leverage AI tools in accelerating chip R&D for local Chinese enterprises. Synopsys has already established a multi-year partnership with OpenAI to jointly develop a dedicated AI model, GPT-Synopsys, aimed at automating the chip design process and significantly shortening development cycles. Meanwhile, Synopsys is exploring collaboration with Chinese AI labs to customize similar design tools for the Chinese market. In response to concerns that AI technology might disrupt its EDA software, Synopsys stated that with AI deeply integrated into its proprietary tools, it expects revenue to grow by 15% year-over-year in fiscal 2027, reaching $11.15 billion. Currently, the surge in AI demand is driving accelerated chip iterations, and chip manufacturers urgently need new-generation AI-powered design tools to compress the complete design process to within one year while addressing the growing number of design projects.
