On October 8, according to the latest statistics from the PatSnap global patent database, in the ranking of the total number of patents held by global battery companies over the past decade (October 2016 - September 2026), Contemporary Amperex Technology Co. Limited (CATL) surpassed South Korea's LG Energy Solution with 26,574 simple patent families, securing the top spot globally for the first time with a lead of approximately 3,900 patents. This marks the first time a Chinese battery company has ranked first in terms of total global patents over a ten-year period, representing a significant shift in the competitive landscape of global battery patents in the past decade. The statistics also indicate that domestically, CATL ranks first in three dimensions (total volume, power batteries, and solid-state batteries) across three time windows (overall, past decade, and past three years), solidifying its leading position and driving innovation in the domestic battery industry. Meanwhile, Chinese battery manufacturers as a whole have made remarkable progress, with EVE Energy, SVOLT Energy, Gotion High-Tech, and BYD firmly ranked among the top ten globally, indicating that the global center of battery innovation is shifting from Japan and South Korea to China.
