Industry insiders reveal that Samsung Electronics' Visual Display (VD) Division has made the strategic decision to source LPDDR4 and LPDDR4X chips from Winbond starting next year. Relevant certification tests for these chips were successfully concluded in the first half of this year. Notably, the testing process was expedited due to the relatively relaxed reliability verification standards for TV chips compared to those for mobile chips.

However, as a new DRAM supplier for Samsung, Winbond is currently in the process of formally notifying its major supply chain partners and customers, and is awaiting the necessary approvals. Given that the negotiation process will require some time, Samsung TV is anticipated to actually commence the adoption of Winbond's DRAM products in 2027. Furthermore, Samsung's VD Division is contemplating equipping approximately 50% of its TV lineup with Winbond's DRAM in the same year.
