Samsung expects its operating profit for the period from July to September to hit a record KRW 107.4 trillion (around $80.2 billion), a substantial increase compared to KRW 12.2 trillion in the same period last year. This figure also surpasses the Refinitiv SmartEstimate of KRW 106 trillion. Projected sales are estimated at KRW 195 trillion, reflecting a 126.6% year-on-year growth. Samsung traditionally releases estimated profit and sales figures before its comprehensive quarterly report. This performance outlook suggests that Samsung has achieved new records for four successive quarters, underscoring the persistent supply-demand imbalance in memory chips. Notably, significant purchases by AI companies have driven up chip prices. The uptick in demand for memory chips has also placed cost burdens on buyers, including mobile phone and computer manufacturers.
