On October 6, Taiwan's Economic Daily News reported that AMD's CEO, Lisa Su, paid visits to major contract manufacturers and renowned brand companies, including Foxconn, Quanta, ASUS, and Acer, earlier in the day. In the afternoon, she journeyed to Hsinchu for a confidential meeting with TSMC, the premier wafer foundry. Lisa Su confirmed that, in light of the robust surge in demand for AI computing, AMD's previously disclosed $10 billion (roughly NT$317.6 billion) investment plan for the supply chain in Taiwan will not only advance as scheduled but will also witness an augmentation in investment owing to the escalating market demand. AMD plans to persistently broaden its supply chain footprint in Taiwan in the forthcoming future. Lisa Su underscored the significance of sustaining close collaboration with pivotal suppliers and partners. Addressing the supply of CPUs and GPUs, she remarked that this is an exhilarating era for all computing domains. Despite AMD substantially ramping up production this year, demand continues to outstrip supply. Hence, AMD is collaborating with TSMC, along with backend packaging and testing, and substrate suppliers, to expedite capacity expansion.
