Li Chao, Deputy Director of the Policy Research Office at the National Development and Reform Commission, announced at a September press conference that three key strategies will be implemented to propel the Beidou industry's scale beyond RMB 1 trillion within the next five years.
Firstly, there will be a focus on bolstering top-tier planning. This involves coordinating efforts to achieve breakthroughs in core technologies, such as high-end chips and essential components. It also means enhancing the integration and innovation of Beidou with cutting-edge technologies like artificial intelligence and satellite internet. Additionally, the goal is to optimize the layout of satellite navigation infrastructure, nurture high-caliber enterprises, and establish a secure and reliable foundation for time and space services.
Secondly, institutional safeguards will be enhanced. This will be achieved by expediting the issuance of the 'Regulation on Satellite Navigation of the People's Republic of China,' refining industry standard systems and testing and certification frameworks. There will also be a push to encourage greater reliance on certification results, strengthen supporting measures for application services, and solidify the institutional bedrock for the widespread adoption of Beidou.
Thirdly, open collaboration will be deepened. This involves leveraging multilateral cooperation mechanisms to facilitate tangible cooperation projects, such as technology exchange and talent development. Active participation in global satellite navigation governance is also planned, with the aim of extending the reach of Beidou products and services to more countries and peoples, thereby supporting global economic development and enhancing people's livelihoods.
