Hong Kong Stock Market Review: Hang Seng Index Closes 0.60% Higher, Chip Stocks Rally for Second Straight Day

On September 18, the two key indices of the Hong Kong stock market exhibited an upward trajectory post-opening. The Hang Seng Index surged by over 1% during the trading session, ultimately closing 0.60% higher. Meanwhile, the Hang Seng Tech Index concluded the day with a 2.20% gain. Chip stocks continued their upward momentum, with Biren Technology soaring more than 12%, GigaDevice climbing over 9%, and Hua Hong Semiconductor advancing more than 4%. The optical communication sector also witnessed a rise, with Lightelligence-P jumping over 22%. Robot concept stocks rebounded, with Yunjibot surging more than 21%. Additionally, sectors such as liquid cooling, mainland property, Chinese securities firms, PCB (Printed Circuit Board), artificial intelligence, and electrical equipment were among the top performers. Conversely, sectors like coal, building materials and cement, oil, film and television, and port transportation experienced declines. Among individual stocks, Lenovo Group rose by over 9%, propelling its market capitalization past HK$460 billion to a record high, while MINIMAX-W surged more than 18%.
