On September 18, Yonhap News Agency reported that Solidigm, the US-based subsidiary of SK Hynix, is contemplating the establishment of a NAND flash memory production facility in the eastern United States. Solidigm came into being following SK Hynix's acquisition of Intel's NAND business division in 2021. On the same day, industry insiders disclosed that Solidigm is in the process of evaluating potential locations and associated conditions, with the intention of constructing a substantial NAND production line in the eastern US. Should this project materialize, it will mark Solidigm's inaugural production base within the country. Moreover, recent reports have surfaced indicating that Solidigm is exploring collaboration opportunities with Intel in memory production, while persistent rumors suggest a potential Nasdaq listing for the company. An official from SK Hynix clarified that Solidigm is indeed assessing various strategies to bolster its competitiveness, but no definitive decisions have been reached as of yet.
