IBM announced the world's first dual-architecture mainframe processor at the Hot Chips 2026 conference. Utilizing a 2nm process, it integrates 11 high-performance cores with clock speeds exceeding 5.7GHz, supporting native execution of both Arm and IBM Z/LinuxONE instruction sets. The processor features built-in AI inference accelerators, on-chip DPUs, and large-capacity caches, enabling enterprise customers to seamlessly collaborate and run applications across IBM and Arm computing platforms.
