Since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, semiconductor silicon wafers have, for the first time, witnessed a substantial price hike across all specifications—including 6-inch, 8-inch, and 12-inch wafers—with a minimum increase of 10%. The industry holds an optimistic view that this initial price surge in over three years will bring advantages to the three major suppliers in Taiwan, China: GlobalWafers, TSMC Solid State, and Wah Lee Industrial.
