On August 20, TCL Technology unveiled its strategic move to acquire a 45% stake in Guangzhou CSOT Semiconductor Display Technology Co., Ltd., with a total investment of approximately RMB 9.325 billion. The acquisition will be executed through a dual approach: half in share issuance and half in cash payment. This transaction has successfully obtained registration approval from the China Securities Regulatory Commission (CSRC). Guangzhou CSOT Semiconductor serves as the operational hub for TCL CSOT's t9 production line. Prior to this deal, TCL Technology held an indirect 55% stake in the entity via TCL CSOT. Upon completion of the transaction, TCL Technology will gain direct and indirect control over the entire equity stake. The acquisition is anticipated to bolster TCL Technology's attributable net profit and enhance its basic earnings per share. Projections indicate that Guangzhou CSOT Semiconductor is poised to achieve a profit of around RMB 2.1 billion by 2026. TCL Technology further expects its attributable net profit to surge by 96% to 108% year-on-year in the first half of 2026, with the semiconductor display business serving as the primary growth driver. The t9 production line, representing a total investment of RMB 35 billion, stands as China's inaugural high-generation oxide production line tailored specifically for high-end IT and professional displays. It is projected to deliver robust revenue and net profit performance in 2025 and the first half of 2026. This acquisition is strategically designed to transition the gains previously enjoyed by external shareholders to those of the listed company's shareholders, thereby solidifying TCL Technology's strategic footprint in the mid-sized high-end display sector.
