On August 21, according to the Hankyoreh, SK Hynix is considering building a memory chip manufacturing plant in Miyagi Prefecture, Japan. This would mark the first major investment by a Korean chipmaker in a production base in Japan, with the investment potentially reaching tens of trillions of won. SK Group Chairman Chey Tae-won recently visited the region. SK Hynix responded that while any location with the necessary infrastructure could be a candidate, no final decision has been made yet.
