Data released by the South Korean government on Friday revealed that, propelled by sustained global investment in artificial intelligence (AI), the nation’s exports of information and communication technology (ICT) products surged to $53.36 billion in July. This marks a remarkable 140.6% increase compared to the same period last year, setting a new record for July and significantly outpacing the $22.2 billion recorded in July 2023. Semiconductor exports, in particular, soared to $41.02 billion, up 178.8% year-on-year, serving as the primary driver behind this export growth. Notably, ICT exports accounted for 54% of South Korea’s total exports in July, marking the third consecutive month that this share has exceeded 50%.
