On August 13, Citigroup forecasted that a growing number of Asian companies are poised to issue stocks in the U.S. market. This trend is driven by tech firms' aspirations to elevate their valuations and access the ample capital available in the world's largest stock exchange. Adrian Nye, who heads Citigroup's Issuer Services in Japan, North Asia, and Australia, highlighted that Asian tech companies are now on a par with their U.S. rivals, leveraging American Depositary Receipts (ADRs) to enhance their market valuations. Data reveals that the average price-to-earnings ratio for constituents of the Philadelphia Semiconductor Index hovers around 22 times, notably surpassing that of their Asian counterparts. Since the start of this year, Asian firms have raised approximately $28 billion through ADR issuances, setting a new benchmark since 2020. Notably, SK Hynix's $26.5 billion listing constituted the bulk of this figure, while the initial public offering of Japanese payment service provider PayPay added another $1 billion to the tally.
