The earthquake halted production at multiple semiconductor factories, including relevant plants under Sony, Renesas Electronics, Tokyo Electron, Ebara Corporation, and Mitsubishi Electric. Additionally, Japan Post suspended all post office counter services in Kumamoto Prefecture, while Nippon Paper Industries suffered severe damage as the chimney at its Yatsushiro plant collapsed, and related factories under Honda and Toyota also temporarily halted production.
