On July 29, 2026, the U.S. Department of Commerce revealed that, in line with the CHIPS and Science Act, it had entered into letters of intent with seven technology companies. These agreements pave the way for a total of $874 million in federal incentive funding to bolster their R&D initiatives. This substantial financial support is earmarked for pivotal semiconductor sectors, including integrated photonics, computing architectures, advanced packaging, substrates, materials, and memory technologies. Specifically, GlobalFoundries stands to receive up to $300 million, Kepler up to $245 million, and Multibeam Corporation up to $140 million. The remaining four companies are also set to benefit from varying levels of funding support.
