SK Hynix raised a record $26.5 billion through its U.S. listing, leading to a significant rebound in the South Korean won. South Korean regulatory authorities took this opportunity to encourage export companies to repatriate their overseas US dollar funds back to the domestic market. Market observers noted that SK Hynix's continuous selling of US dollars laid the foundation for the won's strengthening. At last week's work conference, Deputy Finance Minister of South Korea, Huh Chang, called on exporters to convert more of their overseas revenue into won and repatriate funds that had been held abroad for an extended period.
