The burgeoning demand for AI computing capabilities has led to a structural squeeze on memory chip production capacity. Consequently, the wave of price increases has cascaded from upstream suppliers all the way to end consumers. Prices for certain solid-state drives (SSDs) and memory sticks have doubled. Specifically, the cost of a 1TB SSD has climbed from 500 yuan to around 1000 yuan, while an 8TB SSD tailored for the PS5 has reached a staggering price tag of nearly 20,000 yuan. It is anticipated that these price hikes will persist until 2027. Given the rapid escalation in prices, some dealers are now exercising caution and are reluctant to stockpile large quantities of these products.
