On Monday, South Korean President Lee Jae-myung instructed officials to swiftly advance the major chip and artificial intelligence projects announced last week. He warned that delays in permit approvals, land acquisition, and the provision of electricity and water could undermine South Korea's dominant position in advanced industries. Lee emphasized that success hinges on speed of action, demanding that sequential processes be replaced with simultaneous progress, shortening approval processes such as environmental assessments, pre-securing electricity and water infrastructure, with a particular focus on power issues for chip projects, and ordering the preemptive resolution of companies' concerns about baseload power supply capacity.
