Electronic Fabric Prices Keep Climbing Amid Shortage of High-End Looms in the Upstream Sector

There has been a significant uptick in demand for specialized high-end air-jet looms used in electronic fabric production. However, Japan's Toyota Loom commands over 90% of the global market share, with a staggeringly long delivery cycle of 18 to 24 months. Orders placed at present may not be fulfilled until 2029. This situation could prevent electronic fabric companies from expanding their production capacities in a timely manner. Moreover, it will take at least an additional two years to achieve domestic substitution for high-end looms. Recently, fueled by the explosive demand for AI in downstream sectors, prices of mainstream products in the domestic electronic yarn market, specifically the G75 and 7628 models of electronic fabrics, have once again risen. On average, electronic yarn prices have surged by RMB 2,500 per ton, with electronic fabric prices increasing by approximately RMB 1.2 per meter. There has also been a notable hike in prices for fine and ultra-fine yarns. Given the current imbalance between supply and demand, it is challenging to alleviate this issue, and the tight supply of electronic fabrics is expected to continue.
