On July 3, reports surfaced indicating that Samsung Electronics is rapidly becoming a pivotal production hub for self-developed AI chips (ASICs) among global tech firms, with its long- and medium-term order pipeline projected to near KRW 50 trillion. Meta is intensifying its partnership with Samsung Foundry to co-design and manufacture next-generation ASICs, valued at over KRW 10 trillion. Samsung has been chosen as the production partner for Meta's in-house AI accelerator, dubbed 'MTIA,' with ambitious plans to mass-produce hundreds of thousands of units utilizing the cutting-edge 2-nanometer process. Concurrently, U.S. AI powerhouse Anthropic is also considering leveraging Samsung's 2-nanometer process for its chip development endeavors.
