On July 3, South Korea's LG Energy Solution announced that its joint venture with Honda Motor, L-H Battery, has commenced mass production of lithium-ion batteries for energy storage systems (ESS) at its battery plant in Jeffersonville, Ohio, USA. Originally designed for manufacturing electric vehicle (EV) batteries, the plant has adjusted its strategy to focus on producing energy storage batteries due to changes in the US EV regulatory environment and the promising growth prospects of the energy storage market. These batteries will be used in grid, commercial, industrial, and residential energy storage systems across the United States. L-H Battery plans to flexibly produce batteries for hybrid electric vehicles and energy storage systems based on market demand. The start of mass production marks a significant milestone for LG Energy Solution in expanding its local production scale in the North American energy storage market.
