On July 2, SEMI predicted in its 300mm Fab Outlook Report that global equipment investment in the memory sector for 300mm fabs will exceed $50 billion for the first time in 2026, reaching $52 billion, a year-on-year increase of 29%. It is expected to grow by another 11% in 2027, reaching $57 billion. This growth is driven by increased investments in AI infrastructure, data centers, and next-generation computing systems, reflecting the sustained demand for advanced memory driven by AI. SEMI forecasts that from 2024 to 2029, global equipment investment in the memory sector for 300mm fabs will continue to grow at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 19%. Meanwhile, global 300mm memory capacity is also expected to continue increasing, reaching 4.1 million wafers per month in 2026 and 4.2 million wafers per month in 2027.
