At around 10:32 a.m. local time on June 1st, a fire broke out in a gas chamber connecting two production facilities within the fourth campus of SK Hynix in Cheongju, North Chungcheong Province, South Korea. The fire was promptly controlled, but a fluorine gas leak resulted in seven individuals being sent to the hospital. SK Hynix evacuated approximately 3,600 employees and reopened the factory after gas clearance, stating that the operation of production equipment was unaffected and that the cause of the accident was under investigation.
