NVIDIA made an announcement today, revealing that it will integrate the second-generation Ray Reconstruction technology into the DLSS 4.5 feature suite. This technology, which was first introduced in 2023 in tandem with DLSS 3.5, is primarily designed to tackle image quality problems, including distortion and imprecise details in ray-traced shadows and reflections, especially when DLSS 2 super-resolution is activated. By incorporating an AI reconstruction module into the rendering pipeline, this innovative technology can take the place of conventional temporal and spatial filters, enabling a more precise restoration of the details and lighting effects inherent in ray tracing.
