On Tuesday, a government think tank in South Korea announced that, propelled by significant export growth in the semiconductor sector and other industries, the nation's economy is now projected to expand by 2.5% this year. This marks an upward revision of 0.6 percentage points from the 1.9% growth forecast issued at the close of last year. The think tank further indicated that, driven by surging demand for semiconductors and other products essential for AI infrastructure, South Korea's export volume is poised to reach USD 924.4 billion by 2026. This represents a year-on-year increase exceeding 30%, with the trade surplus expected to hit USD 220 billion.
