Samsung Electronics' semiconductor sector is on the brink of a shutdown, following the breakdown of labor negotiations. The union has declared an extensive 18-day strike, commencing on May 21. It is anticipated that the strike will draw in 45,000 to 50,000 participants, constituting 64% of the semiconductor division's entire workforce. This could potentially mark the largest strike in the annals of the global semiconductor industry. The strike looms as a triple menace to Samsung's operational performance, the South Korean economy, and the global semiconductor supply chain, with economic losses estimated to range between 30 trillion and 100 trillion won.
