Moore's Law, a cornerstone of the semiconductor industry with a legacy stretching over five decades, has long propelled the global progression of chip technology. In recent years, a prevailing sentiment within the industry has suggested that Moore's Law is nearing obsolescence, with many asserting that chip technology is on the verge of reaching its physical constraints, thereby halting further miniaturization efforts. Contrary to this pessimistic outlook, Belgium's Interuniversity Microelectronics Centre (IMEC) remains steadfastly optimistic. In its latest technology roadmap, IMEC asserts that silicon-based technology retains vast untapped potential, projecting that chip technology could indeed surpass the 0.2nm threshold by the year 2046.
