On April 20, 2026, it was reported that Samsung Electro-Mechanics and LG Innotek have initiated a collaboration to jointly evaluate prototype components required for implementing CPO on semiconductor substrates. Both parties plan to integrate electro-optical switches, transceivers, and optical interconnect components onto the substrates, enabling the final products to feature CPO functionality. Currently, this research and development effort is still in its early stages.
