On April 20, 2026, the three primary A-share indices displayed divergent trends at the market's opening bell. The Shanghai Composite Index edged up by 0.05%, whereas the Shenzhen Component Index dipped by 0.1%, and the ChiNext Index declined by 0.57%.

In terms of sectoral performance, the optical communication and semiconductor sectors emerged as the frontrunners. Dier Laser and Holitech Technology soared by over 8%, while Watt Optoelectronics climbed more than 6%. Conversely, the catering & tourism and engineering machinery sectors witnessed significant downturns, with Xi'an Tourism plummeting over 8% and Guilin Tourism slipping more than 2%.

The newly listed stock, N Ruier, made a remarkable debut, skyrocketing by 107.39%. By the market's close, the three major indices finished marginally lower, experiencing minimal fluctuations throughout the day. The Shanghai Composite Index settled at 3,472.94 points, marking a 0.13% decrease; the Shenzhen Component Index ended at 14,101.90 points, down by 0.11%; and the ChiNext Index closed at 2,896.11 points, slipping by 0.09%.
