On April 17, sources within the industry chain disclosed on April 15 that, driven by a substantial increase in memory chip orders, Wuhan Yangtze Memory Technologies Co. is stepping up its efforts to expand production capacity. A prominent figure in the memory chip industry chain mentioned that YMTC's revenue in the first quarter of this year exceeded RMB 20 billion, marking a year-on-year doubling. Its NAND chip production now accounts for more than 10% of the global market share, approaching the position of the third-largest player worldwide, with substantial profit growth anticipated in the following periods. To secure production capacity, YMTC, having already completed one new factory, is planning to construct two additional facilities. Once all are up and running, the total production capacity will more than double, with the monthly capacity of a single factory expected to reach 100,000 wafers.
