The Hong Kong Stock Exchange has introduced two new technology-centric indices: the HKEX Korea Exchange Semiconductor Index and the HKEX Technology and US Technology 100 Index. Five overseas subsidiaries of mainland public funds have received approval to roll out corresponding ETF products in the Hong Kong stock market. These products are anticipated to be integrated into the interconnection and interworking ETF framework post-listing. In recent years, there have been clear indications that mainland public funds are intensifying their efforts in the ETF sector within the Hong Kong market. By 2025, the number of ETFs listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange soared to a record high, with over half of them being products managed by the overseas subsidiaries of mainland public funds. These funds have also accounted for more than 70% of the newly listed ETFs since 2026.
