Japan's Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry said on Saturday that the funds will support Rapidus in conducting research and development for information technology company Fujitsu Ltd., one of the first customers in Japan to drive forward this landmark project. With the additional funding, the government's total subsidies and investments in the startup will reach 2.6 trillion yen (approximately $16.3 billion) by the end of the fiscal year in March 2027. The ministry stated that an external committee has inspected Rapidus' chip manufacturing plant in Hokkaido, Japan, and acknowledged its technological progress.
