Samsung Electronics plans to invest US$4 billion to build a chip packaging plant in northern Vietnam to strengthen its local influence. According to sources familiar with the matter, the investment in Thai Nguyen Province will be carried out in phases, with an initial investment of US$2 billion. Samsung representatives declined to comment on this. The Vietnamese Ministry of Finance stated on Thursday that it is formulating a memorandum of understanding with Samsung on the semiconductor project plan, but did not disclose specific details.
