The launch of Intel's binary optimization tool, IBOT, has ignited a debate surrounding benchmarking outcomes. Primate Labs, the developer behind Geekbench, has declared that all benchmark scores for Core Ultra 200S Plus processors compatible with IBOT will be labeled as 'potentially unreliable' and will come with a cautionary note. When executed with IBOT, certain tasks in Geekbench 6 witnessed a performance surge of up to 40%. Yet, the inner workings of this tool remain unclear, and Geekbench is unable to ascertain whether IBOT is active. As a precautionary step, Geekbench has opted to highlight the results with warnings and declines to validate them. This, however, does not signify any inherent performance flaws in the processors themselves, as preliminary evaluations suggest their real-world performance is robust. Primate Labs has clarified that this action is provisional and may undergo revisions down the line.
