On March 25, reports confirmed that on the preceding day, March 24, Suzhou Xingyue Photonics Technology Co., Ltd. initiated the construction of its silicon photonics platform within the Suzhou High-Tech Zone, with an anticipated completion by year’s end. This groundbreaking project marks China’s first 8-inch mass production line specifically tailored for silicon-based photonic chips, backed by an initial investment of 1.2 billion yuan. The facility will feature an 8-inch production line utilizing a 90-nanometer process node, designed to fulfill market demand for 1.6T and 3.2T silicon photonic modules, while fostering a self-reliant and controllable manufacturing ecosystem for silicon-based optoelectronic integrated chips.
