On March 24, the 2026 Xuantie RISC-V Ecosystem Conference took place in Shanghai, marking a significant milestone in the tech industry. During the conference, Alibaba DAMO Academy entered into a strategic cooperation pact with the Beijing Open Source Chip Research Institute and the Institute of Software, Chinese Academy of Sciences. This collaboration aims to collectively drive technological innovation and foster ecosystem development within the RISC-V domain. As per the terms of the agreement, DAMO Academy will capitalize on its expertise in high-performance CPU research and development, as well as its prowess in industrial implementation, to actively contribute to the development of the next-generation open-source RISC-V CPU, codenamed 'Xiangshan'. Furthermore, the academy will delve into pivotal technologies such as Simultaneous Multithreading (SMT), on-chip interconnection, and 'unified inference and training', with the shared goal of constructing a robust, high-performance RISC-V software ecosystem.
Additionally, DAMO Academy made a grand reveal of the high-performance RISC-V CPU, Xuantie C950, which has set a new global benchmark for RISC-V performance. The academy also introduced two cutting-edge RISC-V native AI engines, designed to seamlessly integrate high-performance general-purpose computing with AI computing capabilities.
